This recipe actually had to wait a little bit until I made it, because I couldn’t find any pecan nuts. Can anyone explain me why they are so hard to find in Germany? Finally, I found them in my local supermarket.

Yeah, well, I got fixed on by a brand, but no matter what they are really delicious, so that’s ok.
Here’s what you need
200 g flour
30 g sugar
125 g butter or vegetable spread
3 tablespoons cold water
200 g pecan nuts
270 g caramel
1 big egg
100 ml cream
First, mix the flour, sugar, water and butter. Knead well to get smooth dough. Roll out and cut into as many pieces as you have tartlett forms. Put the dough into the greased tartlet forms and press against the frame. Place the tartlet forms in the fridge for about an hour.
In the meantime, grind 125 g of the pecan nuts. I simply put them into a freezer bag and smashed them with a hammer as I don’t have a grinder. Roast the nuts in a pan and then put them aside.
Mix the caramel, egg, cream and some cinnamon together. Add the pecan nuts as well.
Take the tartlet forms out of the fridge and put the pecan nut filling on them. Place in the preheated oven and bake at 155 °C for about 25 minutes. If you want you can put the remaining pecan nuts on the tartlets after about 8 minutes of baking.
Take the tartlets out of the oven and let them cool down. Enjoy with some extra caramel sprinkled on top! ~Hetty~
