Need there be gifts to make cute giftbags? Just think of those last minute presents that you are buying – or making – five minutes before leaving for the party. That’s when I don’t want to worry about the packaging. On the other hand I am not the girl who gets the corny or expensive bags you can buy, so what’s the DIYer got to do? Craft giftbags beforehand in order to have them on hand when needed. Gosh, I even prearranged for the urgent last minute christmas gift, haha. There you have your organized German, just to meet prejudice… Wish I was like that all the time, organized I mean.
Here is my inspiration on pinterest and here is the original method on How about orange You can make them in any size you like and – the best part – you can make them from just about any giftwrapping material. Starting with the usual giftwrap to kraft paper and even newspaper.
You can follow the instructions as in the pinterest photo or simply use a 1/3 to 2/3 rule. This means the side should be half as wide as one wide side. The height is totally up to you or your papers dimensions. As in many of my diy’s leftover pieces, that are too smal to wrap a gift in them, can be used. They just make small bags, ideal for cute little things like hair accessories, jewellery or small chocolates. The bottom part will find its way because of the choosen dimensions. This goes naturally. It really is a thing you learn by doing. Give handmade giftbags are try and you will figure it out.
I liked fine rope for the giftbag handles as well as ribbon. Just let your imagination run wild to find your favorite materials, no boundaries, indeed.
Have fun crafting! And if you are on my gift list, you might just be seeing one of these bags in the future! ~Anna~
